Kimbolton Round 4

April 15, 2019

A good day Saturday practicing, we missed two sessions due to the weather but found our pace was pretty good. We did have concerns about the clutch which was starting to smell like it was overheating but didn't want to revert to the spare engine unless we had to. The aim by the end of the weekend was to have two engines in the best of health ready for the start of National Championships in a fortnight's time.

Now in British summertime we're back to having three heats and a final at a race meeting, For heat one I was drawn to start 20th, I had a pretty awful start and whichever way I tried to pass it turned out I'd gone the wrong way. I'd made my way to 17th by the end but with a nosecone penalty (everyone came to a virtual stop in the last corner) I was classified 22nd.

Heat 2 I started 6th and held this position until around lap 4 when I was hit from behind in turn one and half spun, I rejoined to finish 11th, could have been worse.

Heat 3 starting 17th I had a great race following Adam Sparrow through the pack to finish 7th at the end with joint 2nd fastest lap, (Adam was a tenth quicker).

These results lead to me starting 17th for the 12 minute plus a lap final. For the first couple of laps I held position while everyone sorted themselves out, It was a great race and I made good progress through the field the kart was running well and set up was pretty much perfect. Come he end I was 8th, a good result.

Thanks to Maddie, Mark and George for Marley sitting and Michael Anthony Estate Agents for their support.

PFI and the first round of the British Kart Championship in a fortnight!
